Hi all,
Unsure if this is vent gleet or just a rough go of pasty butt and would love another opinion.

The chick is a 5 week old barred rock that we have had in a brooder since she was picked up from wilco farm store a little over a month ago. The brooder has pine chip shavings as bedding, a brooder plate, a chick nipple drinker that gets chick boost probiotics from flock pro, and an extra large plastic chicken feeder where she gets medicated chick starter. She is 1 of 13 and is the only one who is having this issue.

She is eating and drinking great and the others aren't pecking at her bottom. She seems to be her normal self and still going about her day mostly unbothered. Her poop isn't hard or crusting over which is why i'm leaning more towards gleet. I'm attaching some not so fun photos of her vent post warm water soak after we gently wiped away some of the mess. Any advice would be amazing as this is our first go around with chicks. HELP!

Can you post some pictures after it's been cleaned up as much as you can? Apply some vaseline or plain antibiotic ointment to help keep it moist and that should help soften some of that up as well for removal. Be gentle, that tissue is fragile. It almost looks like it's prolapsed some, which may be why it's having trouble. If it's prolapsed you don't want it to dry out. Have you noticed any straining to poop? Feeding a bit of coconut oil can help with constipation, which can cause problems. Freeze a tsp or so of coconut oil, break it into small bits and feed it to the chick.
