Vent Gleet or something else?

Hi everyone! I've been reading through all the posts on vent gleet that came up via Search and I suspect this is what we are dealing with (although as new chicken owners, I could be completely off base!)

We got our chickens 5 days ago and I only noticed this hen's behaviour 2 days ago so it may have been going on longer.

I've given her a warm bath with epsom salts and she has fresh yogurt with a probiotic and ACV/garlic water available. I have read that I can give her Monistat either orally (that kind freaks me out only because I didn't know you can!) or gently smearing it on the affected area. I've also read I can give her Tums?

Before I run out the store and buy it, is that what I am actually dealing with? If she's not drinking, can I give her some water with the ACV through a small syringe to drink?

I want to do what I can to get this sorted out.

Thanks so much for any and all help!!

She could be constipated , have some vent damage from pecking or laying large eggs, or she might be egg bound. I would give her a dose of calcium citrate with vitamin d 3 orally to see if she lays. You might also want to put on a disposable glove and insert it into the vent to feel for a stuck egg, a mass, or dry poop.

Turns out she way beyond constipated and had a major poop blockage. She passed overnight unfortunately. We opened her up to see if she was egg bound but there was no egg - just a massive mass of poop.

Oh, I am sorry that you lost her. Was her gizzard blocked? Was there any evidence of worms or other findings? Was there any salpingitis or solid egg masses inside the abdomen? Do you put poultry grit out for the chickens?

Hello! The only thing I found after opening her up was that she was full of poop. It was so hard and compacted inside her. I didn't see any worms and all her organs were a healthy looking colour.

Yes, we have grit and oyster shells and broken up eggshells for them. I also give them fresh ACV with garlic and honey everyday alongside their usual plain water. We're starting to let them outside finally (we just got them a week ago) so hopefully that will also help.

We didn't get them from the nicest conditions so she may have been already sick before she came to us.
