I have a 3 year old chicken that I found wanting to stay on the roost all day, her tail is down and she has lost a lot of weight in last two weeks. She had a leg infection a little over a month ago which went away with antibiotics (a leg band was poking into her leg and caused it to get swollen and hot, never using those again). I thought maybe the infection was back so started antibiotics again to be safe. She is also walking funny so I checked for egg bound since she hasn't been laying well since first round of antibitoics but I do not feel and egg.

I'm thinking now vent gleet she got after antibiotics? Her poop is dark slimy green mixed with light green and yellow. What is weird though, is she also had chunks twice in it like this

Would vent gleet have these chunks? Any other ideas. I did give her a mix of buttermilk, raw cow milk and probiotic capsule mixed with some crumbles and she ate a little. She has a little appetite and will drink water for me some.

Wouldn't I see worms in her poop? I have not seen any
Not always.

If you can it is good to take a poo sample to a vet to have a fecal float done (false negatives are possible) for worms every so often. They can also test for cocci and do a culture as well if you want. I prefer to just worm my flock twice a year, as I have had problems with worms on this soil. I have seen worms in the poo before though so I know what I am dealing with. Wormers can kill a weak hen though.

If she is walking funny she could be laying internally or have some kind of infectious (or eggyolk peritonitis) process going on there if she is in pain from her abdomen. Is her abdomen distended?

How is her crop in the morning. Does it empty?
Here are a couple of links on vent gleet if you haven't seen them already.

I am sorry I don't know what is wrong with your hen. I hope you find the answer!

Maybe someone will be able to help you more soon!

Her crop is pretty empty in the morning and through the day, it's not bulging and she falls asleep when I massage it. Her abdomen is not distended, I do not feel much except her breast bone really. I also did a an exam to make sure and did not feel an egg inside.

I will grab wormer today to give her in case that is it, not sure what else to do for her. The chunks coming out look almost like chunks of raw chicken breast.

I have heard of the ovaries being expelled.

This is a new chunk she passed and the same piece opened up.

She is eating small amounts of oatmeal soaked in water then mixed with buttermilk, raw cow milk and probiotic powder now. Not much interest in drinking so having to force water or pedialyte mix down her.
