OK - lockdown tonight - I just read on another post to take the red vent plug out - I didn't do it last time and had a good hatch - so is it very important to take off that red vent plug? I thought they could shrink wrap if any air got in there...................

I've done it both ways. The first time I took both of them out at lockdown. Hatched 5 of 7 eggs. This time I left them in and took 1 out at a time when my humidity was getting too high once they started hatching. But I had to monitor really close to make sure the humidity didn't dip too low. The last one it did dip too low, and I had a fully zipped chick that was stuck. I was able to get it out, but it was really glued in there. I hatched 10 of 11 eggs.
