My 5 1/2 WEEK old BR/EE cross, Soupy has some problems. I hatched her and one other egg from my flock and they stayed in the same brooder until last week when I put them together with my 4 month old Frizzles in the basement brooder (b/c it was still too cold at night for the Frizzles to join the coop & I had to get rid of our roo first).
Two days ago I put everyone in the big girl coop together at nightfall. In the morning, Soupy had clearly been a vent victim of someone's pecking. I I hadn't noticed any problems prior to that although the 5wk olds were clearly fearful of the Frizzles, I never saw them picking at her. When I took Soupy out of the big coop for an inspection, her vent had dried blood all around it and her vent appeared to be protruding somewhat. I soaked her in a warm bath to try to remove the dried blood and poop, but it still looked pretty chewed up (as if the injuries weren't just from that one night perhaps, but I can't say for sure). I then dabbed some Blue Kote on the reddened area surrounding the vent opening (so that's what's so dark in the photo).
Every time I check her vent, there is loose, primarily whiteish, poop coming from her vent (see photos below). The poop does NOT smell normal either, it has an "off" odor about it that I can smell passing by the brooder.I have seen her eating and have seen brown poop in the litter when I initially segregated her.
Can someone please tell me what the problem may be and how I can help her now? I'm not sure where to go from here.
