Fly strike is quite serious and life threatening because of the seriousness of the infection that occurs. The infection can progress quite quickly. Your hens older age is a factor in how she will respond/heal.
With this one, vet care is best. Getting the right antibiotics and probably a prescription strength cream for the infection will be key. The vet will know what to look for and do when it comes to infection and the maggots, and will also tell you exactly how to treat at home and what to look for.
In the meantime until you get her into the vet, keep doing what you are doing. Try to keep her stress at a minimum, and keep her inside away from flies.
