Funny you should start this thread. I finally got my hands on some game bird chow and now one of my birds leaves a blood ring around her egg. I think I'm going to cut back on the game feed and increase the percentage of Layena. They were doing just fine on Layena, peanuts and mealworms.

okay, one of the ones with the problem vents laid a small egg. I'm starting to think the issue was just too many boys in the coop. I'd thought I had 3 boys to 16 girls, but it was really 5 boys to 14 girls, and not all the girls were mature.

Hopefully, the better ratio will give the girls a chance to chill out.

I’ve always fed game brid feed, but I think I was cutting it with layer feed back when I first had my quail. Now, I’ve been doing game bird feed entirely, but I’ve had some nutritional problems.

I’m gonna start doing 50/50 or 60/40 for my layers and see if it helps.
