Venting....Got my hatchery chicks today...

This is the first time I have ordered from McMurry...
I ordered 25 chicks, a mix between bantams and standards, and they came this morning...
The standard chicks are doing AWESOME. I got BO's, SLW's, and BR's. The bantams arent that great - I ordered 4 frizzles, 5 millis, and 3 silkies and my free chick. Out of those, I only have 2 frizzles, 1 silkie, no free chick, and no milles

...The milles were the only reason I made an order. Though I am happy with the the help the hatchery offered - they said to call back on Thursday and let them know the total fatalities, and they would either refund, or send out chicks....But will they only send out 10 chicks, or will they give me a handful of roosters, or...? I really wanted the Milles...

I've heard so many horror stories of a boxful of dead chicks...How did you guys sort it out?

Anyway, I needed to vent...Been a bad week as it was, that just made it worse!!

So they shipped them and they died? Or were they never included in the box?

I'm sorry you didn't get the ones you were really hoping for.

Oh, sorry, wasn't clear, was I?
Most came dead, and a few were almost dead when I opened the box

It was very dissapointing...

Thanks! I'm really hoping that they can send them out again...Even if it means a bunch of extra roosters...I just want my Milles!

yes they will probably use packing peanuts but you can ask that they use a small breed for the packing penuts, or send double the millies just in case and then keep your favorites.

So sorry that stinks!

That's good to hear! I wouldnt mind some extra Mille's kicking around

I just wanted to start out with 5...

Though I wouldn't mind a boat load of roosters either - more for dinner this fall!

Oh.. I'm so so sorry. What a nightmare.

I've decided to pick up my chicks from a local small hatchery/breeder. I couldn't bear to have so many little dead chicks on Chick-mas..

Hope you are able to get everything straightened out and you don't have to wait too much longer for your chickies..
