Just make a small run,I've been walking in there when building don't see any bug life....you think they'll find bugs? and.. or can I add something to crate something to eat other than feed.

They will find bug life in the dirt when they scratch around. I have a dirt run for my chickens, they have no problem finding bugs.

I have to add top soil to level the ground,also to fill in the ground boards all around.

When we did our run, we just put hay and grass clippings down. And after a while it built it up. I know grass clippings are hard to come by during the winter season.

Yea it's winter time hear and no clippings. ...lol. just want to level it out . No just have to find the hens on creigs list.

If you have a local feed store, maybe you can get some from there. We have a feed store where I live they sell chicks up to adults. Or find people who have chickens for sell in your area.
