We have an 18 month old New Hampshire Red that has something going on with her.
Was noticed today that she is swelled up to twice her normal size (comparing her to her 'sister' that we got at the same time), very lathergic, unable to even step back up into the coop from their run and her butt is matted with poop (but no blood signs). Her comb is very pale.
This hen in the spring started laying eggs with super soft shells and then in June stopped laying at all but seemed healthy so just thought that her egg laying time was done as once she did start laying, she never missed a day laying.
The others in with her all look to be OK.
I have read about mites, but have never seen them so do not know what I am looking for.
Did give her some yogurt tonight that she enjoyed.
Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated
