Very Blue!

Such a beautiful egg! Congrats! :wootMy EE’s are 21 weeks I think :idunno and laid her/their first egg this past Sunday. Is your legbar friendly?

She was very skittish until she got closer to POL. But, she was adopted and raised by a momma hen, so ALL the chicks in that batch were skittish. Now, she is pretty chill, but doesn't look for attention from us.

Such a pretty color! I miss blue eggs in my basket. All my EEs lay shades of green. I never had a legbar before but I think I will add one to my list

We have 2 EEs that lay green eggs too. One lays a medium green, the other a very pale green. They are both molting and not laying right now, so it will be nice when they are all producing eggs of various shades!

One EE laid her first bright green egg at fair last year. We placed it to the side while cleaning cages, and whaddya know...someone took it within the 2 minutes we had our attention turned, but at least we got a pic of it before it was swiped! I guess it’s hard to not be attracted to such pretty eggs!
Attracted, yes.... but stealing?!? tsktsktsk

oh wow. That was my dream when I got an EE, she lays beautiful very large eggs, but they are the lightest shade of brown made. Like coffee with more cream than coffee. I love her so much it doesn't matter, but I have to admit I dreamed of that blue egg you have. Legbar, on my list. Congrats on your beauty!

Thanks! I've always heard that an EE can lay, blue, green, blue-green, brown, pink-brown, or even white eggs! But usually lay the blue or green shades. We have two that lay green shades. We purchased 4 more EE chicks from same source that are now five weeks old, so we will see what shade they end up laying later this summer!

I know, right!?!

This happened pretty much every day at fair. We had 4 egg layers there, but only two had started laying (they were about 20 weeks old). So, there was usually at least 1 egg each day, and I think we were able to take a total of 1 egg home as all the rest were taken while we were cleaning 2x per day! We would be standing/working within a foot or two of the egg we had set aside, and poof! gone! I mentioned this to a few more seasoned fair people, and they said its pretty common to have eggs disappear!

Wow! 1 year!!! We had dark brown Leghorns that were very late to lay: 38 weeks, 44 weeks, and not yet when we sold them, so I can sympathize regarding the waiting for eggs!!

Really? Shame on those Leghorns... I thought they were supposed to be a pretty early maturing breed.

Wow, what a place to lay a first egg! And somebody seriously stole the egg? :thYeah, they are beautiful, but really? The things people do sometimes..
