Hi Everyone! I am so excited I found this website and forum. I purchased new chicks a week ago and I just love them. I have 4 five week old buff Orpingtons and three week old Wyndottes and a few Easter Eggers. I have told my youngest son who is graduating that he was worth 9 chicks (his oldest brother was worth a Cocker Spaniel). Anyway we just got our our coop and are eager to set up the run etc.

I love reading the posts in this forum - I feel I have found kindred spririts! Does anyone else feel that others around you dont share your enthusiasm? Or am I just over excited. I cant believe I never had chicks before. They are wonderful!!!

you have actually come to the wrong place, we all share your love and excitenent for chickens and will encourage and enable you to get more! Just kidding, this is the right place to chat with folks who feel the same way that you do! Welcome!

Hi from California! I am way excited over having chickens. I've had a variety of exotic birds, worked at a zoo with some of the rarest birds in the world, but I am enjoying my first flock of chickens more than all of that put together. I have to admit though, I wish I would have finished the coop first.

It's fun to know that there are other people out there that don't think that you are completely ridiculous for sleeping near the brooder box the first few nights, or giving them all names, or holding them on your lap while you watch tv at night. hahaha! My DH thinks I'm a kook
