I got my Ideal order this morning of 9 adorable feather legs! Still trying to figure out what breeds they are, Ideal didn't right that on the invoice this time [IMG]. These sweet babies have such fluffy butts, I'm finding I keep having to wipe them because every time they poo it gets stuck. They're little vents are so teeny the poo doesn't make it to the brooder floor. What can I do to prevent this? I don't want to end up with pastey chicks.

    Thanks, Sonja

I had good luck cleaning any crusties off with hydrogen peroxide and then coating with vaseline.

Also make sure their water is not cold. I've read that using cold water can contribute to pasting. I usually run the water until it's lukewarm - not hot - before filling the baby chick's waterer up
