Very hard egg shells

Hey all!! I have about 3 hens laying for about a week now, and the shells are really hard to crack open. Is this normal, and once the eggs get normal size will they soften up a bit? We don't have roosters so I'm not worried about hatching them.

That hard? Usually they're not Rock hard, but generally just harder to crack.
