very large egg

I went out to the coop this morning to gather eggs and clean poo, check water and feed.
I had an egg that is huge, it is the largest by far that they laid so far, it will not fit in an egg carton. the eggs in the pictures are large size, here is a few picks of it

I feel sorry for the poor gal that laid it. That's one big ol' egg!

Next time, put a quarter next to them for scale.
I'll bet that at least a double yolker, could be a triple or a shelled egg inside a shelled egg.

they are new layers, and they are red sex links. here is a picture with the quarter

Sexlinks are more likely to lay double yolkers....but not uncommon with new layers in general.

they have laid a few double yokers so far, but none this large. I will know what's in it tomorrow, I plan on having it for breakfast.
I never had a triple yoker.

I had a few with double yolks and a few of triple the first year of laying, couple of days ago this one showed up on the nest, my layers are 1-4 yr olds.

Yup our red sex links laid such huge eggs we had to get a basket . They wouldn't fit in the egg cartons, customers love them

!!!

My husband used to weight them and they were heavier then " jumbo"
