This 4 month old hen has a very large crop which seems to be full of water or mucous. It’s been this way since birth we believe. What could this be and possible treatments?

She's very young to be having such an issue with her crop. She appears to have a pendulous crop. This is caused by insufficient chest muscles to hold the crop high enough so that it will drain. Is she behaving normally? Is her weight and growth rate normal? Is there any hint of the crop contents fermenting? You would notice an odor like sauerkraut.

She might be a candidate for a crop bra.

Crop bras are awesome. They're really easy to make too! You can cut out one from an old shirt, fabric, whatever. It will push all the food and water back up to a level where it will go through her system normally. They have a pretty small opening where food and water can go through, so when the crop falls under that level the food just sits and rots. Pretty gross.

Here's a link for you! http://www.hensaver.com/Crop-Bra.html
