On June 3rd I brought home two new girls. They were 6-8 weeks old. One is an Olive Egger the other (I was told) a Svart Hona Cochin cross. Both about the same size. July 11th both girls were weighed for wormer. The Olive Egger was 2 lbs 14 oz. The SH C cross 1 lb 11.3 oz. Already noticeably smaller. I know Svart Hona hens are usually around 5 lbs and the Chochin about 7 lbs so I thought maybe she was leaning towards her Svart Hona genes.
I kept an eye on how the girls were growing and now my little one is well... still really little. August 13th and weighed both girls again. OE is up to 3 lb 8.5 oz and SH C cross is 1 lb. 14.9 oz.
The breeder I got both girls from breeds Svart Hona and Ayam Cemani. But the AC hen is about 4 lbs on average. They also have Bantam Cochin. A BC hen averages 1-2 lbs and a cock 2-3 lbs.

The point of my story is now I'm wondering what I have?!? I said no bantams but people make mistakes. Could a BC roo bread with either the SH or AC hen? It seems like he would be to small. Could there be something else going on with her? She acts completely normal. Doesn't seem sick in any way. If she is Bantam will she be ok with my all standard flock? She's as sweet as can be. I'd hate for the others to single her out. They don't seem to notice yet and her OE friend is always with her.

Any thoughts on my little girl would be appreciated. Thanks

It is amazing how bantam roosters are able to breed, even with a small size like that. I have bred a bantam rooster, to a standard hen, and gotten chicks before. As long as you integrate both of the chickens around the same time if you haven't already, your Olive Egged might help protect her, since they are friends. I raise bantam hens with standard hens, sometimes the standard will get a little picky on the small ones, but nothing dangerous comes out of it with my hens anyway.

Thanks. It's good to hear there is nothing wrong with her. My next question is I also have standard roosters. They are not of age yet and already bigger then she is. Are they going to cause problems? I'm guessing they will have the urge to mate with her. That's only natural. Could I get lucky and they will think she's a chick and not try? I have no idea how big they will be. SF cocks can be up to 8 lbs. but described as gentlemen. Time will tell.

As long as there are other hens like you said, she should be fine, if it were just her and the Olive Egger, things could turn bad quickly when with a rooster. But, I think she'll be fine, since there are multiple hens for the r oosters to choose from. I have never had my standard roosters mistake a bantam hen for a chick, they always figure it out somehow, but my little girls are fine, since they are not constantly getting picked for breeding by the roosters

I'll keep an eye. She is older then the roosters but already smaller. She really is as cute as can be. Some of the softest feathers I've ever felt. She was a surprise in size but as long as she'll be ok I don't mind. I was worried for her safety. Maybe come spring I'll get her a Bantam size friend. LOL

I'll have to try and get a picture of her and her OE friend. Both girls had different names when I first got them but now the OE is Shadow, she was always following the other little girl around. And the little one is Lilla Du. Quite literally Swedish for Little One. :D

Here they are about 2 1/2 weeks ago. IMG_0382.JPG
Up in the rafters roosting. Shadow is almost always between Lilla Du and the other birds. Their size difference is even more noticeable now.
