Hi and welcome to BYC! I agree, your lovely lady is very likely nearing the end of her egg production. I once had a Leghorn who laid an egg a day for 11 months, then never laid another.

Ok so this is an old post, but I just got a narrow egg like that from a first egg. This chicken never laid before and just laid her first and it came out all narrow like that. I’m wondering if it’s ok?

If she's a new layer I wouldn't worry too much. When they first start laying they can give you all sorts of weird eggs. In theory her eggs should become more normal soon.

I have 6 new silkie layers. I got a very tiny egg, a soft egg, an egg on the floor, an egg on the ramp, etc. but no narrow eggs. It's always fun having new layers!

Welcome again. It nauseates me to think about how the egg industry bred these hens to lay 200-280 per year when in the wild they lay 20-30 per year.

I like the long narrow eggs they look like lizard or snake eggs

From my readings if you choose to hatch any eggs do not use the long skinny ones. They supposedly make for a difficult hatch for the chicks trying to get out. I get a few of them from time to time and even got a few white eggs from brown egg laying Delaware pullets. It all righted itself in due time. All is ok now. Best wishes with your girls.
