very messy back end

I noticed one of my 5 year old hens has a very messy back end and possibly a prolapsed anus (something that's sticking out from inside).
What would this be and how do I treat it?

First thing to do is give a calcium tablet to encourage contractions. When the obstruction finally clears, the prolapse will retract.

There is a small possibility the obstruction is a tumor, not an egg. You will suspect this if nothing works to resolve her issue.
