very new, 22 day incubator water test what next, help?

We candled the white bobwhite quails as they were due later than the calis and chickens. The ones not taken were clear and the ones that had were pitch black. We were totally unsure as we couldn't see them wiggling. But the 2 hatched, so we were right to wait for them. We thought ours hadn't taken, but 2 days later they started hatching. U do need to give them that time. Then gently break them to double check is what we did. Luckily all that could had.

If you can make some sort of a seal so light doesn't escape around the egg when using the torch you should hopefully have better luck than you did with the lamp. black_cat made a good suggestion with the phone light if you have one, I've also seen that work quite well in a dark room for a lot of people. The shells on those eggs look light enough that if the light is bright enough you should be able to see something.

The chicks can sometimes be pretty quiet even after internal pipping so you may not hear any peeping. Movement inside the air cell is a good sign they have internally pipped though.

The egg with the stuff on the outside may have gone bad and is seeping small beadlets of its contents through the pores of the egg. Does that egg stink? If so you may want to remove it, bad eggs can negatively affect the rest if they explode (which can happen as gas builds up).

Good luck with the candling! Hopefully it will help give you a better idea of what is going on in those eggs.

the phone I was using didnt have torch, but I got another phone here that has torch
Hopefuly it works, if doesnt work , would be frustrating
I got the flash light, and I will try what I saw here

and a cuping method

I dont know why it didnt le tme see inside, frustrating

Il try to candle in a few hours when its dark here

but I guess on the last day, when I poke a hole
and then use twizzer or pick it slowly with finger Ill find out if alive

I see one had maybe a blood ring, so its bad, and some I guess the black bit is suposed to be bigger especialy since its day 23 or 24, also I think two have small air pocket and most is black but the internal pip I dont see there head in the air pocket

anyways tomroow , 23 hours , me and my parents will check them , last day with hole

also another person said not to candle at this day, might kill, but I did before I got her comment, im sorry

Yeah, most of those are infertle/quit within a day and one looked like it quit around day 9 or 10.
