Very noisy keet

If you only bought a few (or just one) from a large brooder full of keets then they will cry for their hatchmates/broodermates for a quite a while. They are flock oriented even at a young age (they instinctually know there's safety in numbers and they feel they got left behind and are crying for the others hoping to be found). If one mirror doesn't work, try 2. And I have not had to try it myself (since I have a constant flow of newly hatching keets), but I've heard the radio does work too.

PeepsCA, I'm laughing because once again you have answered my question! I was searching for an answer as to why my keets are suddenly chirping at the top of their lungs. It's because I moved them to a second brooder (away from the 2 ducklings and 8 baby chicks). I suspected they were calling for the others. I separated them so that I can feed them high-protein feed but I'm wondering if I should stick a couple of chicks in there with them for a few more days. Although I wonder if that might just make "weaning" them from the chicks even harder later. I'll try a mirror. Any other suggestions? I don't want to stress them out. They are doing quite well so far.

LOL, yah, I've been answering keet/Guinea questions on here for a couple years.

Did you try the mirror? They will eventually get over the separation phase, but it'll go quicker if they can't see or hear the other babies.
