Very sad weekend for us.

I'm so sorry.

Yes, the only way you can catch a human perp is to have evidence. Get a notebook and write down with date, time, and what happened with the ducks. If you are having problems with any neighbors, make note of that too. Be as detailed as possible! Get a necropsy done on one of the dead ducks if you can afford it.

Take pictures of anything suspicious around the pen, like unfamiliar tracks or damage, and definitely get a game cam.

Good luck. I'm sorry for your family right now.

UPDATE............

As of 2 days ago Luna was still alive. And 2 days ago I had to go to the ER I have pneumonia and on strick Dr orders not to go out in the cold to tend to animals and either stay in my chair or bed.....it really sucks because I am so worried about her being out there all by herself. My husband is taking care of her and I bug him asking if she is ok. When I got home from the Er the other morning I checked on her and fed her. Now got to make sure I get healthy so I can tend to her again. My daughter is doing better now. She is more worried about me right now. She does not understand why I can't play with her chasing her around the house. But Santa brought her some board games so we have been playing them and with her dolls....I have been sick since Christmas....I had to make myself get out of bed to open presents with my family and I have been in my chair since then lol.

As for Luna....We are going to fix her pen so noone can mess with her and when I get better we are going to get some more babies. Hubby says I have to be better first before we get any more and he is putting his foot down. All will be good. I hope you all have a Happy New Year and Bless you all.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
May it be full of health for you and your dear daughter and husband,
may you find some nice ducky friends for Luna,
And may the creeps around your neighborhood straighten up and leave you alone!!!
Please do take good care of yourself Strega.

Good news is I am getting better and I have a Dr appointment today to see if I can go back to work tomorrow. Another good thing Luna is alive and kicking. Today is warm outside so I went outside to tend to her and she was happy to see me (I brought her treats unlike my husband lol).....I looked around the pen and on top of the run there was a corn cob......meaning someone was in my yard. We don't feed them by throwing things in there from the top. I am so ticked off I want to hurt someone. I know who it is....its the lady that lives behind us. She does not care for us because we don't feed our animals to the point they are so obese they can't walk like she does her little dogs. I feel sorry for those lil dogs. They are so big around they can hardly run. A couple of weeks ago she asked if we needed dog food because our dogs bark a lot, mostly because THEY are doing things in their yard and our dogs don't like it and they are letting us know or they are playing.....Our dogs are very vocal lol. I told her if she has a problem with how we are tending to our animals to call animal patrol like she did this past summer....which the animal control officer said we were fine......ugh I don't know what to do without proof. We are looking on getting a cam and some other things. It just really sucks that some ppl can't mind their own darn business. Thank you all.

Sad update......

A couple of days before I ended up in the hospital poor Luna died (was in the hospital from Feb 4th to the 8th......found out I am allergic to my inside birds and other stuff to the point it made a bad infection in my lungs....its called bird keepers lung or something like that (Dr's called it so many diff things).....I think poor Luna died of lonelyness. With me being sick and getting worse I was not able to spend much time with her outside. When I went to a Dr appointment my oxygen was at 85 and when they called for a transport for me to the hospital and I got there my oxygen dropped to 75...all better for now though....taking meds for a couple of months....I just feel bad about poor Luna. I know she did not starve. I fed her everyday and her water was always fresh...her poop was normal and everything. She just seemed sad.

We are going to get some baby chicks here in a couple of months. Unfortunatly I have to wear a mask when I am inside the coop. But my poor birds inside have to go. I don't want to end up in the hospital again. I am allergic to their dander and some kind of bacteria that grows in their mess. No rashes otherwise I would not be able to own any birds at all. Hubby says he is going to build me a outside aviary for other birds but just have to wait on that one lol. I am just glad I finally found out whats wrong with my health. At first they thought it was a blood clot in my heart then my lung then they thought I was having a stroke or heart attack because I was complaining that my chest was tight and my right arm was tingling.....i am only 31...but I guess anything can happen.

Thank you all again for your thoughts and ideas. And hope everyone has a Happy V-Day.

Oh my goodness, that's a lot to deal with! I'm sorry you lost your last girl and now your inside birds have to go

Hopefully your new aviary won't be too far away so that you can enjoy some beautiful birds again

I Always sneeze when i have to go clean the coop or even collect eggs, but i just have some small allergies to animals. When my uncle was a kid they had alot of doves and he developed a dark spot on his eye which, of course, had to be removed..it was also caused from being around the birds & their poo too often, probably some kind of bacteria like you were saying.

Very glad you now know what's been wrong and you guys are finding a new way to conquer the problem

So sorry to read of all your issues over he last months. The loss of this last duck must have saddened your young daughter all over again.

At least know you know the cause of your own health problem and can concentrate on making sure you are soon back to health.
