well after signing off of here around 1:30am this morning i went to bed and tried to sleep but couldn't. so i figured well i'll just stay up and do some homework. i went into the kitchen to get some coffee and out of the corner of my eye i saw a light. i looked it was a big fire not more than a mile down the road. well no biggie a mile away however we live on land that is flat and grassy and very DRYYYY. it spread well like wildfire spread after calling 911 and getting people out here which took the about 25 to 30 mins. wewent out and started spraying things down trying to be ready just in case. the police said it was spreading our way gradually. well long story short we sat looking out the window and paceing outside for hours finally they got it under control. fwwwwww. it is very nerve racking watching a huge fire heading rite towards you and everything you hold dear. wondering and praying. man it was freaky to say the least.

I would have been freaking out! My husband works night shift, so I would have been home alone. I would've probably tried to choose which chickens to save and put them in the car and get ready to go. Glad everything is ok now!

Those things are SOOO scary! I am glad it didn't reach you!

I have been in two fires - one the apartment below us when I was 11, and the other the condo two doors down burned to the ground. Both times really too close for comfort.
