Very scary thing happen before my eyes!!!! so sad!!! Darn Coyote!!!

Oh, crap, I'm crying my eyes out!!! Why, oh, why does nature have to be so cruel?!?!?!? I'm sure shock set in for your sweet chicken and she didn't feel a thing! Bless your heart...I hope you never have to go through that again!!

Oh, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Penny. I'm sure her loss will help you to make improvements to keep the rest of your girls safe, so her death will not be for nothing. It's obvious how much you care for your chickens and I'm sure they are very happy with you. Find yourself a new little banty and give her the same great home you gave to Penny, in her memory.

I know there are coyotes here because I have seen them a couple of miles from my house. My chickens free range all day until they go in the coop and I lock them in. I pray every day that nothing gets them because they love to pick around in the yard, just like yours did. I would hate to have to keep them locked up because of predators, they would be so unhappy.

God bless you Lance, and good luck finding your new banty. If I had one I would gladly give her to you!

Sorry for your loss...Coyotes are sly, sneaky and lazy killers.Their is plenty for them to eat in the wild, they just want easy pickings..like smaller dogs, cats, chickens, etc.If you have small children, be very careful.A google search will reveal coyote attacks on children, even with their parents near...!I know of a least one woman killed by coyotes, strolling in a park. These coyotes don't have rabbies and are not sick, they are just very aggressive and their numbers are growing rapidly.I would try to destroy the coyote that is terrorizing you and your chickens.I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for gov't. help to trap it, who knows when they will show up..? Good luck, again sorry for your loss...

2 willyboy.... Yes indeed I think I might have to take things into my own hands because the fish and wildlife haven't even showed or nor call yet and its been over three weeks now so you are sure on that. I love animals I really do and I get that everything has to eat but losing chickens is not quite exciting so my chickens have been locked up til i build a secure fence in area so they can run around. I never killed a coyote before nor a dog but I think I have to grow a thicker skin and take this matter into my own hands and yes it has been an experience it really has. I know I'm going to be put through that situation again but like everyone said I can prevent from happening again. Thanks

To Chickmate:
Thank you for your response yes indeed it has been an experience it really has and very scary and hope that it doesn't happen again. So I bought to banty chicks and blue and a red cochin and they are growing rapidly. This time I know I have to keep them safe and out of harms way. Coyotes are very sneaky and you just never see it happening i guess it was a good thing i seen it that way I really know whats coming around and taking chickens.

God bless him for rescuing the two dogs he has. Some people rescue and keep animals because it's the right and humane thing to do. They don't have to perform a function to make them worth saving. YOU sound pretty useless to me, no offense or anything.
