Very severe bumblefoot advice

Thank you that was a pretty bad bumble. Good you were able to take care of it. I have had 2 chickens with bumble both just started so pretty easy to treat. I used warm Epsom salt soaks and colorless iodine to treat. didn't have to cut.

you can always handle it. it just takes time :thumbsup
Very severe bumblefoot advice
i started with 1 1/2 a droper full of collidal silver the first day & soaking wile i developed my plan of attack HA , i gave it enough time and as i planned to make it come right through the foot , my hens we acting fine no limping at all..?the first thing i saw was this bump on the top of the foot , i treated it as i planned and i bwas able to just pull it out as it was almost out on its own, but first i realized it needed to be twisted a bit almost like unscrewing it in each direction , but not to much i didn't want it to brake apart, and then i just pulled on it and it just came right out and bled a little , the bottom of the foot was all healed well as you can see in my pics , so these thing have a way of fooling the body and it never gets rejected, but when we soak in water & Epsom salts or other soaks it to clean up the area and soften it & i put peroxide on it trying to get any infection that may be underneath & inside the foot to bubble out & to clean it up the foot a bit , then i soaked it with blue coat i have the kind of blue coat that has the dabber end in the bottle , that's the best for applying a good coating , and let that dry then apply a good amount of the drawing salve and make sure its good & covered, then vet wrap it and give it time for the body to react, it will eventually work ,from what i saw i could have left it alone and im sure the hen would have pulled it out her self at some point.! or it would have just fallen right out on its own..! actually had 2 young hensunder a year old with this same condition a the same time ,i was like OMG ... no more... HA but i think my pics pretty much tells the story, so let me know if you need more info,BUT dont forget the colloidal silver thats helping your bird from the inside out..!!! it kills things, germs or what ever that have become antibiotic resistant..!so take care and no worries just do it . HA:thumbsup:highfive::woot:yesss:

wonderful yes usually there is no need to cut, it just needs to be soaked , and do the antibacterial coating and draw it out , it may take more time but at least you get it all out, without cutting , so no pain or open wounds especially in ducks who are in water and can have a bigger possibility of mud/ water induced infection , you will get a great end result, when doing it the low key way.!

Chicken bumble are way easier than duck for sure. Never seen anything like this on a chicken in my years with them. My duck is doing well.

She is getting better. I don't want to do into too much detail online but yes she is getting better and I expect she'll make a fully recovery.
I have no professional training but years of experience in rescue and rehab, and emergency care for the animals I've taken in. You do what has to be done to save the life in front of you. Have family in medical professions, and watch and learn anytime a vet has one of my animals. Also watch procedure video online and learn as much as possible. One day you could need to perform a suture if someone gets hurt in the wilderness and is bleeding, so it's better to know how than be scrambling then.

The hock that is swollen on the opposite leg I am using corona ointment and a bandage on and it's getting a lot better too so thank god for that. It's her good leg, she needs it to be healing when she can go back out. She's a good duck. Eating and drinking and happy.

You sound like you have some medical training?

Glad to hear your duck is doing well does that mean she is healing? what have you done so far. It always helps others when we share.
