Oh no!!! I lost a turkey a few days ago. She was fine in the morning, then about 9 am I went out there, and she died! This morning, I have one that is very lathargic, and droopy wings. I put him under a heat lamp in the house. What could be wrong? Is there anything else I can do? I have to go to work and I don't want to lose him!!! He looks so sad. I don't know what's wrong with him! I got 6 about 2 weeks ago and the 4 that are outside seem to be doing great.
I should add that although this is my first post, sorry, I have been lurking around reading for a while! Most of my questions I ha E been a letter to find answers too. These are my first turkeys ever!!

We need more information. Are you keeping them housed with chickens? Are they eating and drinking? What does their poop look like? Can you take them to a vet?

Since you got them two weeks ago my first guess would be coccidia.

Corid is used to treat coccidia. You can find it at your local fed store.

They stay outside with the hens ... they sleep in the coop at night. They are fully feathered. All their poop seems normal ... I can bring him to the vet after work if he makes it that long

I left the house about 8 am ... he was very sick. I came home about 10 to check on him, and he had already died. he was FINE yesterday evening. I brought his body to the vet. they checked for the coccodilia ... or whatever, checked the poo. negative. Vet cut him open and found white spots in his lungs, I should have taken a pic. he said it was blackhead. there was NO disco, oration of any turkeys heads! all the turkeys are getting a 10 day dose of medicine for blackhead.
I am doing lots of research, so I can figure this out and hopefully never have the problem again!

Turkey's heads don't turn black with blackhead. White spots on the lungs wouln't be blackhead, but spots on the liver are. Read this:

Forgot to say that I'm sorry for your losses and welcome to BYC. If you need help treating for blackhead just let me know... have treated more than my fair share.

I'm not home, when I get home I will check the name of the medicine. casportpony, I know from my homework today that the lungs do not indicate blackhead ... this makes me question the diagnosis.
for those that are experienced, how long after presenting with symptoms does it take before death. my first dead baby was fine and died within 2hours. this one today was fine last night, but died between 8 am and 10 am this morning .... that seems so fast!!! has anyone else seen white spots on the lungs? what was the cause.
I have everyone separated right now and hoping nobody else is dead when I get home. changing put all bedding and disinfecting the coop ... is there not a way to get rid of the blackhead in the chickens so they can't give it to the turkeys?
thank you all so much for your help!
