Very Sick chic

I have 5 heritage RIR, and they are the largest birds in my flock, but also the most docile. They have been pretty healthy for the 5 years I had them, but I did lose the rooster. Some BYC breeders occasionally will part with hatching eggs if you ask the fall before you want them. My easter eggers have also been the most healthy. I have a 7 year old that still lays a pretty blue egg every other day. I have lost several breeds to reproductive disorders, but those are common in many hens over 2 years old.

Just wanted to let everyone know my chicken passed in the night. She is now out of pain.

Do I need to be concerned about my other 3 hens? Is
SALPINGITIS contagious.

Thanks for all you help and concerns.

Thanks couldn’t get into web site I will try later. We do free range.

ty so much. She passed in the night but is out of pain.

It is so difficult losing one of our feathered family members...... Knowing that she is no longer suffering, should help ease YOUR pain. More hugs! :hugs:hugs

I'm very sorry for your loss. :hugs While this is not uncommon in laying hens, I've never seen any evidence or articles that indicate that it's contagious bird to bird, so I would not worry on that account.
