-Very sick chicken!-

I’ve noticed my chicken acting very sick over the last 4 days. The first days she was acting very lethargic and drinking a lot of water and today she’s still acting lethargic and has a pale comb ,not eating very much or drinking. She is also pooping greenish poop even tho she’s been quarantined inside with chicken feed.I’ve tried looking everywhere for these symptoms but to no avail.

The green poop is from her not eating. Try offering her something to get her to eat. Scrambled egg is usually a big hit, canned cat food or tuna, oatmeal etc.

You may need to give electrolytes. Do a search for a recipe if you don't have any. You can use Gatorade and probably Pedialyte if you have it.

People will need info on the hen, Age, currently laying or not any other symptoms? Have you dewormed recently? Did you check for lice and mites? Any abdominal swelling and any other info that might help. Poop pics are also helpful. Has the weather been hot in your location.

Hopefully with this info someone in another time zone will jump in to help.

I have her on purina electrolytes and probiotics . She’s around a year and is not currently laying.I haven’t had her dewormed etheir. I’ve checked her for mites or life but none. But just of as recently she pooped this which I’m not sure what it could be maybe a worm I don’t know?

Have you ever dewormed her?
It's hard to tell from my phone, is that poop bloody?
If you feel her crop first thing in the morning before she eats or drinks, is it flat/ empty?

She’s a year old and I have never dewormed her. I wouldn’t say it’s poop it’s more of a worm when I poked it was like a tough skin and I thinks the things kinda bloody . When I touch her crop in the morning it’s flat but she starts eating a little and drinks and then just stops

Try deworming her. Thats probably parasites in her. Although it seems to be some lash material.

It's not a worm. It's tissue from the intestines or from the oviduct. A worm will have definite segments and you would see them clearly with a magnifying lens, something everyone should have in their chicken supplies for just this reason.

We aren't able to diagnose your hen from out here in internet land. From the poop sample, it isn't possible to tell if it appears she might have an infection. If she has diarrhea and it smells bad, then you might assume she has a bacterial infection in her intestines.

If you see cheesy lumps in the poop, that would likely be lash material, and it would indicate a reproductive infection.

Both of these sets of symptoms might be treated with an antibiotic, but you would probably need to go through a vet to get it.

What you can do is to treat her with electrolyte solution as suggested by @ChicNmom or mix one teaspoon sugar in one cup water with a pinch of salt and baking soda. Sometimes this will revive a sick chicken and get them eating again.

Another possibility is coccidiosis. It can cause intestinal lining to be shed. It can also cause this hen's symptoms. It can't hurt to go ahead and start treating her with Corid if you're in the US. If in Europe, ask for a coccidiostat where you purchase feed.

When was the last egg? She's only a year and not laying? Is she molting? If she should have laid an egg and hasn't, get 1Calcium Citrate+D3 tablet into her once daily - just pop the tablet right into the beak and let her swallow.

Deworming, you can use Valbazen or Safeguard.
Safeguard dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.

Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.

I had given her the amoxicillin a couple hours ago. As of currently she is asleep. Her last egg was 3 days ago I’m pretty sure but might be because of the sickness.
