Very sick dog. Can you help me interperate these symptoms?

I just lost my dog to the EXACT same symptons! Upon doing an autopsy the found a piece of bone lodged in her large bowel!
She would eat, but only the good stuff
She didn't poop for 4 days
The vet put he on antibiotics and said it was probaly nothing,
By day 6 her belly became very hard and she refused to eat or drink,
I took her to the vet the started the surgery immediadetly but she never woke up!
She had almost 3lbs of poo lodged in her bowel!
GO TO THE VET NOW AND DEMAND XRAYS.
I wish I had.

Wow. So sorry for the loss of your dog. I really think she is going to be OK. Bailey pooped a little while ago. It was normal colored, no blood or mucous. Looking more and more like a neck/back injury. I think if she had any impaction, she would not have been able to poop.

Bailey is a pit. Most pits live 10-12 years... SO, when you think about it, she's a middle aged lady. I don't know about you, but I can move just the wrong way some days getting out of bed, and have my back hurt for a few days. Pick something up just right and have my neck and shoulder kill me for a few days... If she's pooing and eating good now, but still just... taking it easy, I'd give her the pain med and a massage. Sounds like she really enjoyed that, and I bet it made her feel better.

Do you give her raw hide? They dont break down inside the dog. Those can build up and cause obstructions. How is she doing today? I have a dog that has mild hip dysplasia. If he moves wrong on jumps down too hard it causes him to hurt. Also cooler weather will bring about pain. He will whine when he moves. Either way an xray would show what the problem is. I agree if your vet will not do what you ask I would get another. How is she feeling today? Also blood work often will not indicate an obstruction and just because her belly wasnt causing pain when palpitated dosent mean no obstruction. My DD's Buddy didnt show pain at palpitation but he had swallowed half a rope toy that was obstructing him.

She never gets rawhide. And I found the smoked bone and trashed it. It was not broken at all. Bailey acted better this morning. She was very happy to get her breakfast and gobbled it right up. She still isn't 100%, but is much better. I really think it's her neck. When I try to flex her head up to cram her antibiotics down her throat, she fights me. So I have to put them in marshmellows, which she loves.

My brothers shep/rotty mix had the same symptoms, she did have a neck injury. Hers was real obvious though, she couldn't raise her head without wimpering in pain. It took her months to recover. She's 100% back to normal now though.
