Very sick duckling, what antibiotics?

It will come with directions to give in the drinking water. Don't do that, it really needs to be given orally.

Baytril has not arrived yet. The duckling is hanging on but very poorly. Could I possibly try giving it some cephalexin, which I have? They are 500 mg capsules. I've read it can help with pneumonia and respiratory infections, though for chickens it says they should be 3 weeks old. The duckling is 2 weeks old.

Put this in the emergencies forum I have been trying to find info online about using this and can't find a thing. Also maybe @casportpony will see this tag and reply.

Thanks, I'll make a post there. I did go ahead and give it some earlier, but the dosage was about 1/90 of a capsule so it's very hard to dose, I just used a small pinch. I don't want to overdose but I also want to give enough for it to work if it's going to.

How is your duckling this morning?
Did anyone respond in Emergencies?
Thanks for asking, sadly the duckling died in the night :(. No responses from Emergencies. At least I will have Baytril on hand if this happens again.
