Very sick Golden Laced Wyandotte, 5 months old

She is still with us. So far she hasn't eaten anything but it wouldn't hurt to try the scrambled egg. She seemed slightly perkier this morning but I just might be trying to be optimistic. She had yellow watery droppings. Nothing formed at all.
I started the outside girls on corid this morning. Fingers crossed.

I'm continuing with the meds the vet gave me for the sick girl and started the outside girls with corid. What do you think? Should I switch the sick one to corid too?
By withdrawal do you mean it will be ok to eat the eggs as soon as medication is stopped? The sick bird isn't laying yet so that's not an issue with her. Thanks

I know why the vet prescribed metoclopromide (reglan) and trimeth sulfa (smp-tmz.) He most likely suspected an ecoli bacterial infection related to cocci in which the trimeth sulfa was given for your hen. The metoclopromide is used basically for acid reflux. In the case of poultry, it can be used to ease the harshness of sulfa drugs.
I suspect you're dealing more with a bacterial issue. I recommend that you follow the vets advice and use both meds as instructed on your sick hen (reglan and smp-tmz.)
Giving corid to your other hens wont hurt. Eggs are safe to eat after using corid.

My Wyandotte is still with us. I've been giving her the meds. the vet gave me. She isn't active my any means but I really didn't think she'd make it this far.
I got her to eat a little yesterday, or at least mess up some food I put in. I'm cautiously optimistic that she will make it. I'm giving the other girls corid
just in case.

Way to go hungry hen !!! I know that egg always seems to make my chicks feel better when they're sick. Good Job! Keep us updated on her condition, I'll be thinking good thoughts for both her and you.

New concern. Some of the 6 chickens outside seem to have runny stools. They're laying eggs at a decent pace. Their stool had been checked by the vet when the Wyandotte became ill and all was well. Feeling a bit overwhelmed. I really do try to keep them healthy. Any thoughts?

Chickens can have watery stools for many reasons, especially if they have drunk a lot of water because of thirst or hot weather, or been eating something different in their diet. CCecal poops which can be very runny or foamy occur about every 9-10 poops. If there is coccidiosis going around, it could be that. You may want to start some probiotics in their water or food. Probios Dispersible Powder and Grow2Max are good ones for chickens. They will also be beneficial after the Corid or TriMeth Sulfa.
