Very sick pullet, need some help

Did you read the information on their website?
Just did. It sounds like I might have to call them but it also says chill them immediately. She is buried in the compost pile which has animal (cow, sheep) manure in t so shes covered in that and its probably kind of warm in there. We can dig her up but does it really make sense to do that?

I wouldn't dig her up.

My state only charges $23, but yours may be more. Some states are expensive. You just need to check with them. If she cannot be necropsied due to being under compost or manure, I would get one if you lose the other sick chicken that you have posted about on another thread. There have been others who have had necropsies done on already buried chickens who were not in the ground long. But you need to take care of this now if you plan to get one. She can be kept cool in a cooler over night, wrapped in a garbage bag.

I can go dig her up, and keep her in a cooler, @Texas Kiki doesn't seem to think its a good idea. I really don't know what to do. This is awful I really don't want to lose my flock. :hit:hit:hit:hit:hit
If my quail can get it should I move them somewhere else?
Do you have the money and permission to get a necropsy?
If so call first thing in the morning and as the state lab if you should dig her up.

You can rinse her body with water (even soapy water) before wrapping her in a garbage bag. Most poultry vet pathologists wet the feathers before a necropsy anyway. If you and your parents decide not to get the necropsy, you could still do one yourself at home to look at the organs. That teaches a lot of us what was going on with our sick chickens. Take pictures of her organs and post here if you do that. Mareks disease may leave telltale tiny tumors on organs, and sometimes when there is weakness of a leg, the sciatic nerves may be enlarged.
