Very sick silkie please help

We have already started her on denagard. Do you think this will help her. We have also wormed them all again now. Do you think this could be mareks?

Has she been eating/drinking? Did your vet do a fecal test to determine if she in fact has a worm overload and what type of worms? Has she been checked for leg injuries, crop issues?

X2 on the worming information.
I agree, what works for one doesn't work for all, and that goes for chemical wormers as well as natural ones.

Quote:
What she was wormed with is relevant to know because some worms are totally resistant to some chemical wormers and even have been shown to do better when the animal is wormed using those drugs, because the wormer they're immune to frees up the host's resources from non-immune parasitic competition. In some areas certain wormers are overused so local information would be relevant as well, if you can talk to local poultry keepers about this sort of thing.

It's a little strange (to me) that when a chicken goes down in the USA, people usually think of mites, lice, worms, and cocci first. Over here it's a bit different. Not that I'm saying none of those causes are potentially the reason, because they well might be, and it's always best to eliminate these possibilities.

My first thought, hearing that she's gone down suddenly one day and stayed down, is not that it's Marek's, nor worms, nor cocci, nor lice or mites, but possibly an injury like a break or torn tendon. Was she living with larger birds or other animals larger than her?

Best wishes.

Elsie died today. :( she perked up yesterday and all of a sudden died today. I'm so upset. She started just leaking fluid out of her bum. Any ideas on this one?
