That egg looks like it was picked off an Egg Tree! Are you sure your hen laid that thing? I can see it now; all the hens in the coop agreeing not to say anything....."Don't tell anyone about the Egg Tree, and we are alive for another day!"

My girls are pretty consistent first-year layers. I switched from good name brand pellets to the chicken feed sold by (big-name discount store found almost everywhere). Shortly after the switch I got four of those "umbilical cord" eggs. Scared me! Threw the off-brand food away, went back to good laying formula, never looked back... no more problems.
