Kool-aid "bleeds" off as soon as water hits it. I used it for my hair once about 15 yrs ago...stained the clothes though.

Lacey, paint your roos nails...lasts a bit longer and more entertaining too. I don't think they'd care too much for being temporarily dyed.

Hello everyone! I'm new to your boards and saw this post...Just had to chime in. While it is not feasible, TMK, to alter the color of the shell laid down by the shell gland, it IS possible to alter the color of the yolk and albumen by feeding dyes. I have seen this done in poultry research. It is actually rather neat to see the results. Since the hen deposits layers of yolk, if you feed dye capsules (specifically Sudan Black and Red), to the hen in alternating colors, say red, black, red, black, the cooked yolk in cross section will have a yellow center with alternating black and red rings. Makes a pretty neat science project for school too, because it visibly demonstrates the physiology of egg production.
