Here's a link I found that may help you....https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2602770#p2602770. I found another thread where someone had the same concern. It was suggested to them that they remove all food overnight and see if the crop size goes down. If so, then it is just a full crop. Chickens can fill their crops a TON! They are very elastic, like a balloon. Try doing a search here on the forum for "full crop size" and you will find a lot of threads concerning this topic. Maybe that will help you understand what's going on with your birds. Good luck.
