Vet techs, I need your opinion/advice!

For $50 bucks go online to K9cuisine.com. You can get some very high end foods for that price (free shipping over $50). You might try some of the grain-free formulas - Nature's Variety Instinct, Innova Evo

You can definately switch food, but you might just want to wait until everything is under control, you dont want to add diarrhea to the mix right now!!

I'm doing a gradual, 7 day switch. He's eaten Ultra before and it hasn't ever bothered him so I don't think changing it again will be a problem. It adds salmon protein to the chicken and lamb proteins he is already eating.

Did you take a look at the Its for the Animals site about Thyroid symptoms? Very good reading, I'm still learning about my two wei's hypoT conditions.

As I mentioned before, if its fatty deposits in the eye from the hypoT, the eyesight will not come back and there is currently no surgery to correct it.

I have two elderly goldens right now, 12 and 14 yrs old who are deaf, or mostly, along w/the 12 yr old's hind legs (esp the left) giving out on him and the 14 yr old had 3 strokes 2 or 3 years ago but she's recovered from her lameness. We take one day at a time and enjoy the time we share...
