I would just clean any areas that have broken skin with betadine and keep the chick with one other that is not pecking. You might find that after you remove this chick that the bullys will find another to pick on. Sometimes it helps to identify the bully's and remove them.

Also make sure they are not to crowded. They will peck if crowded or bored. I put a shoe box turned upside down with a door cut out on each side. It gives the chicks a place to run and hide or to jump up on it to escape an attacker.

Thanks, I have been watching them, but the smart little craps all behave when we are around, I havent seen any pecking! No broken skin, I was relieved at that!

I would try washing off the Vick's with warm water and the gentlest soap or shampoo you have on hand. Be sure to dry him thoroughly, so he doesn't get chilled from the damp!

Is he eating and drinking? If you offer him treats, is he interested? If so, I would leave him be for a day or so, and see what happens.

The spot where he insists on sleeping, does it happen to be directly under the light? He might just be loving the warmth. Be sure to keep his box extra-warm, since he's all naked, and doesn't have anyone to snuggle with.

I would think that if his problem was loneliness, he would be cheeping up a storm. I know that when my chicks were that age, if I took one of them away from the rest, they cheeped so loudly that my ears would ring.

Oh ok well he isnt cheeping at all, dead silent.

He was sitting in his food dish right before I left, so I assume he was eating since he hadnt been in the dish before.

I will get him a friend this evening.

I'll try washing him off too, I have become a pro at chickie bathing the last few weeks haha.

ETA: He isnt under the lamp, I think hes just tired from having to keep moving to avoid the pecking!

I have always used vicks without any problems but the more I read on here the more I think I am going to go back to the axle grease that my grandma used to use for this problem. All those fancy things they sell you in the store never work for me. I have never even seen pine tar so that is probably not an option for me either.

if you cant find pine tar, try a horse supply store. at my store we keep it with the horse items. its used on their hooves. we also sell something called pick no more. some ppl it works for others say its a waste of money. good luck.
