Fleck is still not improving. She is a bantam cochin hen and was perfectly fine until she couldn't walk right. No warning signs. Now her weight is dropping, her comb is paler and she doesn't cluck anymore, just silent. The clucking in the video is from my rooster, same breed. All the others (they are a quad) are fine. Eating layer pellets mixed with start and grow crumble. Have availability to grit and oyster shell. Use DE once a month, no mites on them. The coop is mold free. Sorry for the quality, it's a webcam video of a cell phone video because the message was too large to send.

I watched your video and I'm sorry to say that I'm baffled. It kinda resembles like she may have eaten something poisonous,something that would affect her over a long period of time,or perhaps marek's. I hope she gets better, if not, you may have to make a tough decision soon.

I have already decided unless someone on here says it's not that it's Mareks and that tomorrow I was going to cull her. She breaths in gasps and stops breathing for about 10 seconds and then gasps and wheezes for air and does it all over again.

She looks like she has Marek's Disease to me. Strangely, in the last week, a large number of people posting in this section are reporting Cochins having difficulty walking, losing balance, etc. (all signs of Marek's). On the other hand, a poison, a nutritional issue, or a different virus could be causing the problem. However, it seems like a lot of birds, particularly Cochins, for dealing with this kind of problem right now.

My cochin rooster did the same exact thing. She probably has scaly leg mites. They make the legs swell up so they can't walk. Mites love to go where the feathers are in the legs. I'm sorry to say, but you might have to cut the feathers off on her legs and use a pesticide, like Adams. Try your local TSC to find this. Apply once a week. She doesn't look as sever as mine did. he couldn't even walk, but as he was healling thats what he did. He just started healing up last month and i applied the pestiside in late december. If you look at her legs and the scales are raised up, scaly leg mites is the exact reason. Also, give her a couple drops of Ivermectin orally, it helps fight the mites as well. GOOD LUCK!!

I've seen scaley mite, her legs look good. I cut her feathers, or thinned them out I should say, so I could look for sores, redness and bumblefoot. Didn't see anything. She was fine last week. Eating, drinking, and then one day about a week ago she went down hill fast.

Thanks, and I hope you don't either. I'm suprised on how quickly it struck. She was fine pecking the ground one day and the next, down and out.
