VIDEO OF MOUSE KILLER (Not for the Squeamish)

I wasn't offended. I just feel that if they are caught by the chickens, that's great. Same as cats catching mice. But it seemed strange to go through the trouble of catching them, confining them, and then releasing them to the chickens. I assumed the post title meant that your chickens were acting like barn cats, which is cool. So do mine.

My duck caught a frog in our yard-It was huge compared to her! It also screamed as it was carried around by her by one leg. I ran out to rescue it and spent ten minutes running around the yard after the duck, but no luck! She swallowed it down. I felt awful , but that is nature at work.

Thanks - the visit was very nice for the seniors and for my boys and myself. Just one of those simple pleasures we were blessed to be able to share.

Thanks from a fellow "Just outside of Memphis" Memphian!

They are old fashioned barn mice. I was having a mouse problem in my barn feed area, so I bought live traps after finding one too many snap traps that didn't finish the job. Before I realized they were making their way back to the cozy barn I was letting them go. One day, one of my hens who was hanging around close by snatched one up as it was jumping out of the trap. I must admit that it completely FREAKED me out and I went running after her screaming (glad there was no video that day). After some research I learned that it is normal, a good source of protein and it drastically cut down on my mouse problem. If no one is chasing her she usually eats them in a blink.

that was so cool...

one thing is for sure that chicken ran away from the other chicken and the dog...she needed that meal when she was done....

this may be kinda gross and i really dont know how to ask differently so i will just come out with it...would the mouse affect the taste of the eggs?

WOW that was hillarious!!! I wish my little bantams would do that. I have a few living in my garage and with the feed in there the mice have a 24 hour buffet but the banties dont care what so ever. Guess im gonna have to get me one of those big hens lol

Seriously, I have not noticed. Now that I am eliminating the mice we only have maybe one a week, so I don't know. I am sure I will think about it tomorrow around breakfast!
