Vietnam Vet doesn't get transplant for cancer treatment of 2 cents

They just had a segment about a Vietnam Vet (like my honey) who was in the hospital for a stem cell??? transplant for his cancer, but when his wife made their insurance payment it was short by 2 cents, so they canceled him. There was already a donor.

When they anchor asked if if an apology was going to be made the guy he was talking to on the phone said they were within the law and "No"

DW read that to me. If you are short, you are short. A mortgage company would have charged a late fee A bank would have charged an overdraft fee. An insurance company would have normally charged a late fee and continued coverage. They saw a way out of paying for a very expensive procedure and jumped on it. People are just numbers to health insurance companies. They don't have to offer great customer service. So a lot of them don't It's not like auto insurance where you can dump them and go to a different company.

It's a pathetic story.
