That is an excellent idea and one I could set up extremely easily. Thanx for the thought!

Arlee's chick run cam is good. You all oughta check it out.

We have our coop & run outside the dining room & kitchen window because we figured seeing them regularly is why we wanted chickens to begin with.

my coop was placed because of the land. being in the frozen north the spring thaw is much to consider as well as is the amount of daylight. We located it with southern exposure giving them the most light possible in the winter months and on a gentle slope to keep as much moisture as possible from collecting in their area. fortunately i can just see their area from my kitchen window also. which is nice for when we see the ravens roosting in nearby trees freightening the girls.

trees in the run can be more harmful unless you can cover over or tightly around them with netting. otherwise the branches from trees in the coop serve as roosts for overhead predators. trees outside a covered run for shade are great but also serve as roosts for harasing predators that can slow down production. Consider planting thick bushes in the run that they can get under for shade instead.

Well, the trees are there, there's not much I can do about them, I've got no $$ to get more taken down for now. There will be no trees in the run, but they'll be around the backside of it. I am planning on putting netting over the run to protect them, and also putting in some kind of cover for them to hide under if they get scared.
