Has anyone started Vinca’s from seed? We are having trouble getting them to germinate. All our other seeds have started

We have had very good luck with just about everything but Vinca

I was surprised to see your post. Vincas are actually the easiest/best flowers we have here. They grow and drop all kinds of seeds. So much so that the seeds that fell from last years plants has already germinated on its own and we are already transplanted into other pots for them to grow. Usually where we set our pots (in the summer) there are always some new seedlings sprouting and its kind of aggravating having to pull them up.

Where did you get your seeds from? Maybe they were bad seeds? Maybe they require sunlight to germinate?
Try not burying them, but just drop them on the soil. They are a tiny black seed the best I can remember.

Thanks for your reply. They have started to germinate (finally). We bought those seeds from Park Seed. I thought maybe they need a little warmer temp to germinate.

Nice greenhouse you have there. From the looks of it, they must need more time than other seeds. I'm not real sure of the germination time but the temperature has to have a wide range.

Thank you. It was a FFA project for my daughter.

We are making her a butterfly garden , so we have a ton of seeds we are trying
