We just put the roof on our coop. We used some clear polycarbonate and some tan vinyl (I guess it is vinyl) from Tuftex that we got at Lowes. Are there any safety issues about using this kind of roof? Can a raccoon climb to the roof and get in at the seams where the sections of roof overlap? The guy at the store gave us screws to go through at the valleys and said to install it that way and that is what we did. We have hardware cloth at the edges, but not going across the whole top, under the roof. Thanks!

Can't see what you're seeing, but if there is a gap they can work back and forth then it may become a point of entry. I overlapped my panels and used screws with washers every couple feet or so. They lay pretty flat and are stiff so it works pretty well. If the panels don't overlap and there is room to get a paw or nose in between the two or underneath one to pry up and there are not enough screws to stop the body from passing through then...

Vinyl didn't sound right to me, but sure enough the Tuftex site has a couple of vinyl products listed.

I would think that the seams in your roof should be pretty tight just to keep water out, but if in doubt maybe just add a few more screws.

Do you have some pictures? That might help.
