Violently scratching at head??????????

No vet? Sorry. I guess I'm spoiled, living in Amish country, livestock vets are everywhere! One Amish friend, after getting over his surprise at all the fuss over one c hicken, ask if you had tried "collaring" him. Like a dog with new trimmed ears. Use a milk carton, half gallon size. Stick his head in the spout opening, cut the rest of the carton off past his head. He'll hate it, but he won't be able to scratch. Use oatmeal paste on the bump, heck, the whole bird. then rinse. Have you tried anti-itch cream from Walgreens? I use it on my boxer who is allergic to mosquito bites.

Ive tried everything I ahve available. I just dont know what it could be that bothering him.

However, the itching is becoming less frequent. Im going to give him more time.

Well, he still scratches, but not as frequently. We are keeping a close eye on him. I recently moved him to a larger coop where he could get more room. Since then he seems to ahve improved. Im now making sure he is eatng and drinking as needed. So far so good, but i dont think we are completely out of the woods yet on the scratching issue.

Just an update, Stumpy is fine, he stopped scratching....it must have been a pin feather growing wrong or a masquito bite....maybe even a black fly bite, those things are horrible here!
