Violetes

It takes a while once a new color is discovered to get full color adults. That is why there is only one male currently of age. If I remember right, this color first showed in a male. Therefore when he was bred to a hen after he was of breeding age, all his sons would be splits. Therefore you wait another two years for the hens to be of breeding age to breed back to him and then another two years for any male offspring to get any notice of a train. I know Brad and George are working hard on this color and we will all be pleased with their results. the hens alone are gorgeous!!

George started off with 2 violetes hens that he bought at a bird sell they were with blue hens. Being a sex link color it took awhile to produce a male in this color. They have several hen and split males now. The male is at Brad farm he has been working on getting it in different patterns.

Didn't realize the picture posted of the violete hen was actually the home page of the website. I looked through it but don't see a picture of a male. Is there a photo on his site I missed? Would a violet peafowl just be a variation of the color of a purple?

Different subject but after seeing pictures of Occilated turkeys, I want a pair of them.

Thanks for the reply.
