Hey, I was just wondering do a lot of people show up at the Christiansburg Tractor supply swap? I just went through my oldest group of Rosecombs and culled down to my top 10 from about 75 and was wondering if it would be worth my time to bring them to the swap. Below are some of the breeders, these will all be about 3-4 months old that I am bringing tomorrow with a few of my breeders that I kept from last year.

...Does anyone have problems with their cat attacking your chickens? Our cat LOVES to hunt and she has gone after the chickens a couple times now. :/

I don't let my cats out so I don't have any problems and if I did let them out, I'm sure my roo would make them wish they'd never seen a chicken. But they would kill little chicks in an instant if they could get to them. I've read quite a few threads here where they lost their chicks to their housecats.

it's usually a pretty good swap, but last month was off because TSC had a swap of their own planned for another weekend that I couldn't be there, so I think a lot of people did the other swap... this month the only one will be the 1st Saturday (this weekend).

i'm still torn between hamfest and poultry swap... aka spending time with hubby and walking my butt off vs selling birds... LOL

This year I thought it would be fun to incubate some eggs and to watch them hatch. Of the seven that I set, six hatched. They are each one day old. Two of them I think are purebred leghorns, but I am not one hundred percent sure. The other four might be part silkie, but I am not really sure. Two of them I think are half silkie, half barred rock. My point is that they are pet quality and not purebreds except the leghorns. They are free to any good home and I am not sure whether they are boys or girls. If you are interested, please let me know because as of now, I don't have room to keep them as grown chickens. I am just north of Richmond if anyone is interested please reply or PM me. Thanks!

Nobody much made it to the "official" purina tractor supply swap in Christiansburg, say 40% of a 1st Sat, and 1 bird sales fellow who showed up in Pulaski Tractor Supply the same day and sold everything out! (He's the fellow who used to run the old Pulaski swap)

yeah well the Roanoke swap was the next week and sellers were there, but not many sold much from what I gather. I bought 2 birds sold none. LOL several people were there the week before and said it was hopping. probably because tsc actively advertised that swap

Ah! It was hopping if you where a seller, with lots more buyers, but from a looker/buyer standpoint, well... maybe 40% of normal sellers and those brought much less stock as usual! It all depends on perspective doesn't it?
