Mtn City livestock auction is having a free trade day on Saturday April 19th from 7am until 3pm. Means they aren't charging to sell/swap before the auction starts at 3:30. I heard it is supposed to be pretty big and always has lots of poultry. It is quite a drive but possibly worth it to see what folks have and sell any extras if you have them. I was told anything not sold by 3 when trade day is over has to be put in your vehicle or go through the auction though

Be very careful at poultry auctions. The conditions of birds that I have seen at some of these have caused me turn around and walk away. Also, you have absolutely no idea whether the birds are healthy or not or are asymptomatic carriers of disease. Having just lost my entire adult flock of over 50 birds to two asymptomatic carriers of MG and MS, I will never take that kind of risk again. Your call.

I agree....be careful....I took a chance and got my first 4 hens from an action....and I haven't had any issues but not everyone is lucky. And I honestly can say I probably won't do it again. I was so nervous!

ok a funny for you. 8) yesterday I was outside taking pictures of the chickens and such and noticed this guy in the horse pen... got a few pictures before the dog noticed him and decided to chase him to the fence line. he never goes any further, as long as they keep going. LOL
