This time of year the mice are heading for warmth inside. All that expense and we are chasing some kind of mouse!
I would have went ahead and built one large, long barn with multiple stalls from the beginning instead of multiple 5'x10' runs with 4' square or so houses as I got more chickens! I always knew that my master plan is a self-reliant farm. I just planned to be adding a new element every so often as we got in tune with each element. Yep, one big barn- poultry stalls set up on one side, stalls set up for Nigerian Dwarf goats, guard dogs, piglets/hogs in Fall/Winter and a nice feed and storage room on the other side. I've planned this thing out for years but you use what you got to get things goingFolks' advice of build bigger at the beginning? Totally correct!

I am not in Lynchburg. I think it is cool that you plan to breed Australorps. I have 3 black hens. We have 1 black roo. I have never seen a Lavender. That is freaking awesome! I am kinda new to this. We were considering dorkings, but have yet to seek them out or order. Either way best wishes.I am in Lynchburg.
Cornish. Very cool!
I have a hodge podge. I am thinking I'll breed Australorps (I have some lavenders), and some day, Dorkings.
