I ordered Blue/gold partridge brahma chicks this week. I Actually called this women who assured me she took every precaution shipping chicks. She did not notify me chicks had shipped. I did not catch a call from post office until hrs later. 6 DEAD CHICKS..4 barely alive. Ordered cemanis from another breeder...they notified me..but same thing...chicks came in extremly dehydrated/distressed. I will never order live chicks again..EVER! I'm still working hard to keep the remaining 4 alive. I will order eggs and hatch my own for now on. I've had several hatches from shipped eggs. Not 100% hatch due to various factors...but beyter than seeing beautiful ..and expensive little chicks perish.
I'm a hobbyist to...i decided to focus on seramas, cemanis and the partridge brahma..hopefully show a few..i put a lot of money, time and love into the health of my chickies...it is so disheartening when breeders/sellers r more n it r the money..and could care less about doin thier absolute best to ship a living animal as humanly as possible. I know there are good/respondible breeders...but there r a lot who could care less.

I have an some Phoenix and Le Bresse Hatching Eggs if anyone is interested. I had saved them for someone and it didn't pan out. They were collected over the last 4-5 days. I have about 10 gold and silver duckwing Phoenix and 7 LeBresse. We are in the early stages of our Phoenix breeding program so we weren't looking to sell eggs yet but I cant see wasting these eggs. We have excellent hatch rates here and both breeds are very robust hatchets! The Phoenix are not only beautiful, they are very calm and sweet to all the other breeds. They lay medium eggs daily. We are raising the Le Bresse for meat but found they are super layers of large eggs!
The eggs need to get incubated asap, so pick up on the Eastern Shore or I could ship today or tomorrow. $25 pick up or $40 shipped for all (PayPal). PM me if interested.
Shipping eggs 4-5 days old ...chances of hatching after shippong are probly slim. If you want to ship eggs..they should be freshly collected. It will increase chances

I understand completely. Also we never really know for certain if our order was correct. I carefully hatched out Lemon Cuckoo eggs off of eBay to get Leghorns.

I agree!!! I will not make another purchase without getting trusted BYC people recommendations first.

Thats what I've been doin w/serama and most of my cemanis . I just hatched some this week. The serama eggs r very challenging...hatch rates poor...got another batch in the hatcher! They r so darn cute...and personable.

We Attended a swap with a friend today. Started out very early as I live an hour away from her and we were there before 8 am.
She had chickens she needed to sell Unexpectedly. She did well
for July. June is the last big chicken swap till Sept and Oct so this was a good swap.
Started out I was going to go. Then son said he wanted a few egg Layers to feed his soon to arrive Ohiki & Phoenix Bantams their high protein diet. Then hubby said he was going along to protect me from
Myself to Keep Me From Buying any chickens. I was strong and did not buy chickens. Really she was the only one with really good chickens for sale. I just got a couple of orders from a man from down South and he is very reliable, Unlike the unreliable woman from up North.
